Dr. Williams is a native Washingtonian with 25, years of diversified pastoral and leadership ministry. His commitment to the people of God is evidenced by a broad array of education, experience, and ever increasing responsibilities and accomplishments for the advancement of the kingdom of God. Dr. Williams became a Christian on March 19, 1977. After attending Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Williams was directed by the Lord to Washington Bible College (WBC) in Lanham, Maryland. At WBC he received his foundational theological training, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in Pastoral Ministries. Passionate for the inner-city, he began preaching at the age of 19 in Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Philadelphia. Since that time, he has preached across the United States and the Caribbean.
Like Nehemiah, Dr. Williams has vast experience in the areas of leadership and management. His expertise began as part of the founding ministerial staff of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Lanham, MD, where he served for eight years as an Associate Pastor and Director of Youth Ministries. During this season, Dr. Williams was also employed as a successful businessman with the New York Life Insurance Company and received numerous awards as an insurance and investment broker. These experiences, as well as co-incorporating an independent insurance/investment brokerage firm, have proven invaluable in preparing him for a life dedicated to the management of human and economic resources.
On December 04, 1989, the Lord opened the door for full-time ministry, as Dr. Williams accepted the call to serve as the pastor of the Parker Memorial Baptist Church. Since that time, God has used him as a conduit for the Gospel, ushering hundreds of persons into relationship with Christ. During his 15 years of leadership, the ministry has become nationally recognized for its holistic, impacting, and efficiently organized ministry efforts. Passionate for the marginalized, the Lord led him to birth a community development corporation, dedicated to improving the spiritual, sociological and economic needs of the underserved.
Operating under an inspiring anointing, Dr. Williams has dedicated himself to the task of providing leadership development and organizational management to the body of Christ. At PMBC, he provides leadership to five full-time and four part-time staff persons, 45 ministry managers and serves as an influential political leader in the metropolitan area. As such, the Lord used him to organize Voices of Interfaith Congregations Emerging in Solidarity (V.O.I.C.E.S.), Professional Bio of Rev. Dr. Guy A. Williams, Sr. an ecumenical organization of over 300 Montgomery County congregations, representing more than 50,000 people committed to defending the principles and practices of religious freedoms.
In May of 1998, Dr. Williams received his Masters of Theological Studies, in Christian Faith & Public Policy from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. Continuing his commitment to being thoroughly equipped for ministry, he received his Doctor of Ministry degree with high honors, from the Howard University School of Divinity in May 2002. Steadfast in his diligence for educational excellence, namely in the area of leadership and management, Dr. Williams has completed half the requirements of his MBA, honored to study in the Executive MBA program at The George Washington University. Over the years, the Lord has graciously allowed Dr. Williams to minister among and with some of the nation’s most recognized ministers, ministries and conventions, recently being honored to return to his Alma Marta as a guest lecturer. Since 1997, he has devoted himself tirelessly to the tasks of organizational management, leadership training and development as the President/CEO of The PETROS Group™, a management consulting firm that trains and coaches leaders, managers, pastors, churches and other business professionals. Often characterized as doing ministry “out-of-the-box”, in October 2002, Dr. Williams founded The Parker Pavilion™ a venue to provide alternative Christian entertainment, featuring local and internationally recognized recording artists who “love Jesus and Jazz”.
In addition, he is a member of several professional organizations, including but not limited to the National Association of Black MBA’s, NAACP, and the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Dr. Williams is happily married to his partner-in-ministry, Kia Rebecca Williams. He is blessed by the joys of his life and chief projects of development, Lauren Rebekah, Guy Anthony, Jr., Kailani Lei and Aaliyah Charis, his four beautiful children. For his family and for all that has been accomplished by the grace of God, he honors the Lord Who mercifully causes him to be “blessed . . . and highly favored.”
